Suburban Sunlight

Sometimes it's nice to leave the city and relax a little in suburbia. That's not a thought I express too often, but there's definitely a sense of relief when I find myself in an area where the whole street is available for parking.

I'll admit, I'm a true city girl at heart. Through thick and thin. I'll defend LA, even when I could string off a list of complaints and criticisms at a moment's notice. But who can't find negatives about anything if they try hard enough? It's much easier to dwell in the positive. Thinking about the opportunities and culture a city offers gives me butterflies. But suburbia provides the perfect refuge to slow down. Rent a movie and stay inside. Or have a photoshoot in the street, because the cars are that scarce!

Amidst the city lights, my frenzied brain needs a reminder: It's ok to relax. It's ok if I don't do everything. It's ok if I stay in on a Friday night. The world is constantly speeding around us, through us, but let's not lose sight of the value in breathing and resting in the moment.

San Francisco Dreaming

Not having a job makes jet setting up and down California quite easy. And gives me a reason to use the term "jet setting" (only trying to make traveling between my parent's and home more glamorous). Maybe next time it will be Italy. Nothing to tie me down or stop me from last minute plans. Last week, I flew home for a few days and could not stay away from San Francisco. Out of any city I've traveled to, San Francisco will always be in my top 3 favorites. I would live here, but I don't want the novelty to ever wear off. Quirky, fun, unique. All brilliant qualities of a city and all lovely elements of style.
I'm a sucker for cleverly named clothing pieces and these ones were all about San Francisco. Now I just want to buy a dress for every city I visit!

And here's a peak into my trip to San Francisco! I got all the eating ideas from the blog, Bleubird Vintage. The most delicious experience. Always new places to try in the city!

Amazing little bakery. Couldn't stay away from the macarons! (Wearing: Dress: Urban Outfitters, Bag: Nordstrom BP, Elephant necklace: Forever21)

Something Old, Something New

Yesterday my wonderful roomie and I went on a spontaneous adventure to the old LA zoo in Griffith Park. It's a mere 3 miles from our apartment. Hop, skip, and a jump. And what a find it was. Eerie, creepy, but so fun to explore all the nooks and crannies. We kept discussing how we felt like we were on the set of a horror movie, but in the best possible way. All the graffiti provided unlimited entertainment and photo ops. We can't wait to go back and walk more of the trails in the park. Fantastic views of the city. I love the city/nature contrast, especially when I'm in the nature. A perfect getaway.
I adored wearing this blouse while out, because not only is it floral (favorite!), but it is sheer and lightweight, ideal for a hot afternoon in the sun.
